Fenton Forever added a stakes win to his growing resume with an authoritative victory in the $100,000 Wait for It Stakes on Monday at Parx Racing as the Parx Winter Racing Festival began.
Trained by Tyler Servis and ridden by Kendrick Carmouche, the two-year-old son from the first crop of Pat on the Back broke alertly and controlled the pace before pulling away in the stretch to win by 3 ¾ lengths over his stablemate Reelin N Dealin who closed from off of the pace.
Bred and owned by Desmond Wynter’s Wynter Racing Stable, Fenton Forever is named in honor of John Fenton, a mainstay on the Parx backstretch community who passed away in June of 2021
“I am just thrilled for the connections,” said Servis. “They are very patient and it clearly pays off. As for Fenton, he is a special horse with a special story.”
Stakes winner Honorable Win prevailed over seven rivals in the $100,000 Miss Behavior Stakes to earn the second stakes victory of her three-race career. Trained by Kathleen DeMasi, the homebred for Pewter Stable rated off the pace under Eliseo Ruiz before launching a strong rally and drawing off to win by 4 ¾ lengths.
Leading rider Mychel Sanchez swept both divisions of the $75,000 Parx Future Stars Stakes on Monday. He guided Hollywood Beauty to a front-running upset victory at odds of 15-1 for trainer Marya Montoya and delivered aboard the favorite Global Steve for trainer Robert “Butch” Reid, Jr.
The stakes action continued on Tuesday with three $75,000 stakes races. The Jacinto Solis-trained Offaly Cool pulled a rail-skimming upset in the $75,000 Kris Kringle, giving Abner Adorno his second of three winners on the ten-race card. Nelson Avenue shipped in for trainer Wayne Potts and delivered as the favorite in the $75,000 Blitzen Stakes under jockey Jose Lezcano.
In the $75,000 Mrs. Claus, Irish Maxima romped with a 13 ¾ length triumph under jockey Frankie Pennington. Trained by John Servis, the three-year-old daughter of Maximus Mischief broke sharply and went gate to wire.
“She is a very talented filly,” said Servis. “Our plan is to point for the Barbara Fritchie.”
To conclude the year, Jamie Ness and Mychel Sanchez each had three winners on Tuesday’s card, extending their respective leads in the standings. Ness ended 2024 with 162 wins and Sanchez claimed the leading rider title with 176 wins.
