Bensalem, PA – The week at Parx Racing was highlighted by three stakes races, the $75,000 M.P. Ballezzi Appreciation Mile on Tuesday and a pair of Pennsylvania-bred stakes races, the $75,000 Jump Start and the $75,000 Disco Chick on Wednesday. Point Dume earned the first black type win of his career with a front-running score in the $75,000 M.P. Ballezzi Appreciation Mile. Ridden by Angel Cruz and trained by Timothy Kreiser, the four-year-old son of Into Mischief broke alertly and hooked up early with Bernie’s Mitts. After a brief duel, he put away that rival and edged clear, prevailing by 1 ½ lengths over a closing Irish Cork. Owned by Bush Racing Stable, Point Dume has now won 8 of his 26 starts and improved his earnings to in excess of $350,000. Nature’s Candy notched the seventh win of her career and her fifth win of the season with a gate to wire score in the $75,000 Disco Chick Stakes. The five-year-old daughter of Uncle Lino is bred and owned by Jerry Kolybabiuk’s Freedom Racing who also bred and campaigned the graded stakes placed namesake of the race. It was a one-two finish for trainer Bernard Houghton in the $75,000 Jump Start Stakes when Silhoutte Cove pulled the upset over his stablemate Come Prima. Ridden by Frankie Pennington, the sophomore son of Warrior’s Reward tracked behind the front-running Dropline before taking command. He dueled with Come Prima in the stretch before prevailing to earn his first stakes victory and third win from five starts.
