Bensalem, PA – Crab Daddy pulled the upset and broke his maiden with a rail-skimming triumph in the $100,000 Pennsylvania Nursery Stakes at Parx Racing on Wednesday.

A homebred for Brian Schartz and trained by Linda Albert, the two-year-old gelded son of Uncle Lino settled in off the pace under jockey Ruben Silvera as the undefeated The Boy’s Warrior set the early fractions before making a move up the rail and pulling away to win by 3 3/4 lengths to break his maiden in his second career start.

“Crab Daddy showed a lot of heart and determination,” said Silvera. “It was very impressive for a two-year-old. I want to thank Linda Albert for a great training job and Mr. Schartz for the opportunity.”

The $75,000 Turkey Trot went to Warrior Johnny, piloted to victory by Pennsylvania Derby winning jockey Jaime Torres. Trained by Philip Bauer and owned by Rigney Racing, LLC, the five-year-old son of Cairo Prince made his run from off the pace to confront front runner Concealed Carry in mid-stretch before pulling away to earn his fifth career victory.

The in-form Spikezone rolled to his eleventh victory of the year with a front-running score under Mychel Sanchez in the $75,000 Let’s Give Thanks. It was the sixth straight win for the five-year-old gelding. It was the second winner of the day for trainer Jamie Ness who also teamed up with Frankie Pennington to win the fifth race with Chattalot.

Adam Bowman and Beach Daze pulled the upset in the $75,000 Cornucopia Stakes for trainer Farrel Mann. The five-year-old daughter of Blofeld set off of the pace before launching her rally around the far turn and fighting on gamely to prevail, holding off a late rally by Confirmed Star. It was her eighth career victory.

Live racing resumes on Friday with a special nine-race Black Friday card. The day will feature a jockey foot race to benefit the Permanently Disabled Jockeys Fund (PDJF). Post time is 12:05 p.m.
