Stakes winner Lonesome Boy returned to winning form with a game win over a contentious allowance/optional claiming field on Monday at Parx Racing.

Ridden by Adam Bowman, the three-year-old son of Nationhood broke well and settled to stalk the pace before taking command in mid-stretch and edging away to win by 1 ½ lengths over a sloppy track. Owned by John Parker and trained by Hugo Padilla, it was his fourth career victory.

“Lonesome Boy came to this race very prepared and ready to go,” said trainer Hugo Padilla “I thought he did very well as he overcame some traffic on the first turn but he handled it very well. He came back from the race very good and looked very happy this morning. He is growing physically and mentally very much and we are all very proud of him. Owner John Parker couldn’t be happier. We are focusing and going to prepare for the Kris Kringle Stakes on December 31st.”

Harp’s Hot Corner extended his winning streak to four consecutive victories with an authoritative romp under Mychel Sanchez in the fourth race for trainer Jamie Ness. It was the third of four wins of the day for leading rider Sanchez who also won the first race for Michael Pino with Dos de Oros, the third race for Josue Arce with Mr. Bogan and teamed up with Ness again to take the fifth race with Pennsylvania-bred Ron Don Scorese.

Also on Tuesday, Bourbon Calling was claimed out of the fifth race by Tyler Servis on behalf of Bourbon Lane Stable and the former graded stakes placed competitor has been retired to pursue a second career. The eight-year-old gelding retired with nine wins and his third-place finish on Tuesday pushed his career earnings over the $700,000 mark.

There will be a special early first post time at Parx Racing of 11:05 a.m. on Tuesday as the track conducts Christmas Eve racing with a ten-race card. Saturday, December 28th will feature a special Saturday card with a 12:05 p.m. first post.

There will be a mandatory distribution in the Philly Big 5 on Tuesday, December 24.
